This section will, we hope, show that the Society does more than just rehearsals and concerts.
Fundraising / Social Events
Events coming up include:
- Cream Teas and general sociability on Saturday June 30th at Margaret Vivian’s house
Events so far in 2012 included:
- Coffee Morning on Wednesday 21st March at Liz Piggott’s house
Events held in 2011 included:
- Social Gathering on Sunday December 11th in the Catholic Church hall following our Christmas concert.
- Coffee Morning on Thursday November 3rd, again at Barbara Palmer’s home, raising a very welcome £73.
- Coffee Morning on Thursday 28th May at Barbara Palmer’s home.
Events held in 2010 included:
- Post-Concert Social on Saturday December 4th in the Butler Centre.
- Coffee Morning on Thursday 21st October arranged by Barbara Palmer; another £83+ raised!
- Post-Concert Social on Sunday June 6th at St. John Vianney Church Hall.
- Winter Welly Walk Thanks to all who took part in, or who sponsored walkers in, the Winter Welly Walk on Sunday 28th February. They raised some £350.
- Coffee Morning and Bring-and-Buy Sale on February 25th, arranged by Barbara Palmer.
Events held in 2009 included:
- Thursday 12th November: Jewellery Party. Thanks to Denise for hosting this.
- Thursday 29th October: Coffee Morning: another £71 brought in. Thanks, Barbara.
- Saturday 20th June: Barbeque, Wantage
- Wednesday 10th June: Tea Party (nothing to do with the US political organisation), East Hendred
- Sunday 26th April: Some members raised funds for WCS or their own favourite charities in Wantage Rotary Club’s 10 or 5 mile Open-Country sponsored walks
- Thursday March 5th: Coffee Morning, Wantage
- January 25th 2009: Organ Recital by Richard Smith, raising £475 towards the costs of our approaching performance of “A Child Of Our Time”.
Events held in 2008 included:
- (exact date not recorded): Coffee Morning / Bookstall / Bring and Buy Sale organised by Liz Piggott: the event raised £95.
- December 10th 2008: Coffee Morning
- June 29th 2008: 60th Anniversary Celebrations
- Wantage Choral Society celebrated its 60th Anniversary with a social gathering at Lains Barn, hosted by our President, Jamie Lonsdale. You can read a full account, and view photographs of the event, by following This Link.
- Sunday June 1st 2008:Sponsored Walks
- Thank you to Josie, Anne, Ian, Liz, Alastair, Malcolm, Shirley, Eirwen, Carl and Rhiannon, who all participated in the Wantage Rotary Club’s 3/5/10 Mile Walks, and raised £500 for the choir.
The day was completed with a rather sumptuous lunch hosted by Liz.
