Local Music Making.

This page will include brief details of music-making other than WCS concerts in which our members or associates are taking part, or of “Come and Sing” events within easy travelling distance of Wantage.

  • Various Sundays (3.00pm):  Concerts at St.Nicolas Church, Abingdon. For more details see This Site.
  • 1st to 5th June: English Music Festival; mostly at Dorchester Abbey but some events at Radley College, including a “Come and Sing Kipling Choruses” on June 5th.
  • Weekend 22nd to 24th June: Gloucestershire Choral Weekend, at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. Great music of course: as the College catering staff are used to dealing with hungry prospective farmers, the food is excellent too.
  • Thursday 5th July (7.30pm): Concert by the Saxophone quartet  “Mazama” in the St. John Vianney RC Church, Charlton Road, Wantage. One half of classical arrangements, second half of jazz. Proceeds split between the Catholic Women’s League and WCS.

Various Dates: For those who are particular fans of Early Music, there are various workshops staged by the Thames Valley Early Music Forum whose details can be found at This Page.

The music isn’t the main focus, but: there’s the Oxford Historical Dance Society for you to try.
